Teardrop Floor Lamp 149cm - Black Metal Base with Beige Linen Shade, Foot Switch

A 149 cm floor lamp built around a single idea: a slim black column rising from a weighted teardrop base, topped with a narrow beige linen shade. Nothing about it competes for attention, which is what makes it work in a corner that already has furniture in it.

The teardrop base

The base is solid metal, weighted at around 2 kg, and it tapers upward into the column rather than sitting under it as a separate disc.

That weight is the point. Slim floor lamps on thin flat bases tip easily — a child running past, a vacuum cleaner, a dog's tail. This one is bottom-heavy enough to stay upright through ordinary household knocks, which matters more in a family room than any styling detail.

The shade

A narrow linen drum, 25 cm across and 35 cm tall. Deliberately tall and slim rather than wide, so it throws a vertical column of light rather than a wide pool.

Linen diffuses softly and warms the light passing through it. In a corner it gives a lit column effect against the wall rather than a bright disc on the ceiling.

The light

A warm 3000K LED bulb is included — 7W, which is enough for corner and ambient lighting. Warm light against beige linen is what produces the effect this lamp is designed for; a cool white bulb would flatten it entirely.

The socket is a standard E27, so you can change the bulb for anything you prefer later.

The foot switch

An inline foot pedal on the cord. No reaching under the shade, no fumbling for a socket switch behind furniture — a toe turns it on.

It's the difference between a lamp that gets used every evening and one that gets switched on twice a month.

The cord

2.8 metres, which is unusually generous. Most floor lamps ship with barely enough cable to reach the nearest skirting socket, which dictates where the lamp can go. This one lets you place it where the room wants it and route the cable afterwards.

Where it works

Living-room corners, beside a sofa or armchair, next to a bed, or behind a desk in a home office. The narrow footprint suits tight corners where a tripod or a wide-shaded lamp will not fit.

Indoor only. No weather rating, and a linen shade will not tolerate humidity or dust.

The bulb is included, unlike most floor lamps. If you replace it later, any standard E27 fits — keep it warm, 2700–3000K, or the linen loses its effect.
