The stone

Travertine is a natural limestone with open pores and visible bedding lines. It is cut, not moulded, which means no two shades are identical. The texture, the pore pattern and the exact warmth of the stone vary piece to piece.

That variation is the material, not a defect. If you want two or three matching pendants over an island, order them together so they come from adjacent stock — pieces cut separately will differ more.

Lit from inside, the stone glows warm rather than staying opaque, and the light falls in soft shadow patterns on the wall behind it from the surface texture.

A narrow cylinder

The tube shape is deliberately slim, which means it works best where the drop itself is part of the look — bedside, in a pair or row over an island, or alongside a headboard rather than centred alone over a wide table.

The light

Standard E27 socket, open at the bottom so light falls directly downward while the stone glows from within.

Use a warm 2700–3000K LED, 40W or below. Cool white fights the warmth of both the stone and the walnut and makes the piece look grey rather than warm.

Where it works

Bedside as a hanging alternative to a lamp, in pairs over a kitchen island, entryways, and above a reading chair. Suits Japandi, wabi-sabi and natural- material interiors — the pairing of rough stone and warm wood is the whole point.
