A pendant light cut from natural travertine, capped with walnut, hanging on a 170 cm adjustable cord. Three shapes, same materials — the choice is proportion, not construction.

The stone

Travertine is a natural limestone with open pores and visible bedding lines. It is cut and hand-polished, not moulded, which means no two shades are identical. The veining, the pore pattern and the exact warmth of the beige vary piece to piece.

That variation is the material, not a defect. If you want three matching pendants over an island, order them together so they come from adjacent stock — pieces cut months apart will differ more.

Lit from inside, the stone glows warm rather than staying opaque. The colour comes from the stone itself, so it stays warm even with a neutral bulb.

Three shapes

All three take the same bulb, use the same cord and mount the same way, so you can mix shapes in one room without the hardware looking mismatched.

Hanging height

The cord is 170 cm and adjustable, cut or coiled to the height you need. Where that height lands is what determines whether a pendant works.

• Over a dining table: 75–90 cm from the tabletop to the bottom of the shade. Low enough to light the table, high enough to see across it.
• Over a kitchen island: 75–85 cm from the counter.
• In a row: space pendants 60–75 cm apart, and keep the outermost ones at least 15 cm inside the ends of the island.
• In a corridor or entryway: at least 210 cm from the floor to the bottom of the shade.

Measure your ceiling height before ordering. In a 3 m room over a 75 cm table you need roughly 135 cm of drop — well within the cord, but worth confirming.

The light

Standard E27 socket, open at the bottom so light falls directly downward while the stone glows from within.

Use a warm 2700–3000K LED, 40W or below. Cool white fights the warmth of both the stone and the walnut and makes the whole fitting look grey.

Where it works

Kitchen islands, dining tables, bedside as a hanging alternative to a lamp, entryways, and above a reading chair. Suits Japandi, minimalist and natural- material interiors — the pairing of stone and walnut is the whole point.

This is hardwired. It connects to a ceiling point, not a plug. Installation should be done by a qualified electrician, with the power isolated first.

Cleaning: wipe with a dry cloth. Travertine is porous, so avoid water and never use chemical cleaners — they sit in the pores and stain.
